Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge

It's well awarded: Because the team at Nkuringo focuses on great service delivery, the lodge has won the WTA’s for the “Best Safari Lodge in Uganda” every year since 2016.

It's got the environment at its heart: Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is entirely eco-friendly. Its design is inspired and built with natural materials locally sourced from nearby communities making it a sustainable and unique build.

A great base for exploration: Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge provides a prime access point to the start of an incredible gorilla trek. About 25 minutes away via car is another trailhead, Rushaga, which has eight habituated gorilla families.

Located over 7,000ft high on Nteko Ridge sits Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge. Overlooking the stunning world-renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the ridge provides an incredible viewing point across the Kashahsa River Valley, all the way down to the forest hill 'Nkuringo'.

The part of the forest known as 'Nkuringo' is home to three families of Mountain Gorillas. The lodge provides prime access to the starting point of the gorilla trekking trail. Not only this, but the lodge offers breathtaking panoramic views of the volcanoes the make up the Virunga chain, all across the escarpment into the Albertine Rift Valley.

Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, formerly known as Nkuringo Gorilla Camp, has grown organically over the years from a small camping site in 2007 to a fully-fledged lodge. Now, it boasted the title of Uganda’s leading Safari Lodge at the World Travel Awards every year from 2016 to 2019

The lodge keeps the environment close to its heart and prides itself on its green initiatives. The lodge uses solar energy and harvests rainwater - these efforts means they can proudly operate as a carbon-neutral lodge. In order to reduce on use of plastic in the lodge, they provide water in jars and encourage all visitors to come with their own water bottles that they can refill from the dining room.

On the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest sits Nkuringo Lodge’s ten luxurious cottages.

The chalets boast incredible luxury amid forest trees, flowers, and shrubs. The rooms are spacious and natural light fills them from floor to ceiling, coming in from your private viewing deck that overlooks the rolling forest.

There is also a private villa available, ideal for families or groups of friends travelling together.

Additional amenities include 25 hours of electricity, laundry services, en-suite bathrooms and a cosy fireplace to relax beside after the day's activities.
