Is May a good time to visit Uganda?

Through the dense green vegetation, sightings of gorillas are common as they migrate to the warmer lower slopes of the mountains. This makes gorilla treks much shorter, but the rains can render some routes impassable.

Flocks of migratory birds continue their migration across Africa, making May a great time to visit for bird watchers.

Days are warm, wet, with the rains broken periodically by periods of sunshine. Average day time temperatures are around 22 degrees Celsius. Frequent downpours can hamper plans last minute, and waterproofs and good outdoor boots are essential.

Although many lodges close due to the bad weather, the properties that remain open have good availability and relatively low rates. The Kibale National Park is a good place to visit in May as the chimpanzee populations are most active around this time. These primates can also be found around the Murchison Falls
